Laughter is the Best Medicine

Jon printed out a wonderful article written by Zig Ziglar about laughter. Zig says that next to love, laughter is the most powerful emotion we can express. Laughter stimulates the respiratory system, relaxes tense muscles, and releases pleasure-producing chemicals in the brain. I believe this because nothing feels better (it's a natural high) than laughing until your eyes are watering.

On our recent trip to Big Bear we had a couple of times when we were doubled over with laughter. One was when we were on a hike and the girls started whining about how long it was. We started rhyming everything we said and in a matter of minutes we were laughing so hard at each other the girls forgot all about the extra miles (almost).

Last weekend we had a wonderful day at the beach with a large group of friends from LaVerne. We gathered around a campfire and told funny stories of silly things we have done or had happen to us in our "younger" days.

I had several cancer survivors tell me early on that Jon and I needed to find a way to laugh. A few people gave us videos of Christian Comedians. We recently watched one of those tapes with our Bible Study Group. It feels good to laugh at cancer. I read a humorous book called "Thanks for the Mammogram".

I hope you have a good laugh today. A special thanks to Steve and Linda McCullough who stayed with us last week. They brought laughter and great memories of days past to our home. Steve and my Dad have been friends since they were 10 years old! We are very blessed to have such good friends all around us who bring us joy and laughter.

Love to all,
Sandy
