The Prayer Pillow

On my birthday, I was taken to lunch by twelve amazing friends. Being with friends is the best present a girl could get. We had a delicious time, in more ways than one. It was so much fun, we all wished we could meet up and have lunch once a week!

In addition to lunch, the girls surprised me with an amazing gift. It is a thick casing for a pillow that has all of my favorite verses embroidered around the edge, and some of my favorite verses written out on the face. (my description does not do it justice, so I added a picture on the bottom). It is a priceless gift, and I am thankful for Isabelle, who worked all weekend on it.

The pillow is amazing because of the meaning. Our minister at Glenkirk, Jim, often talks about what kind of story we are writing with our life. Are we making a difference in a way that counts. I am grateful that God has worked His power through cancer so that I can have a story that really counts. The pillow stirred me deep in my soul, because it was a statement from friends that they understand this valley that I am in, and they see how God is using it in a powerful way.
As we were sitting around the lunch table, I thought about the verse in Matthew 18:19,20 that says if two of us agree on earth concerning anything they ask, it will be given. The twelve there that day all agree that God is at work and can do the impossible. I believe we will look back a year from now and be amazed at all the ways of the Lord. I am incredibly blessed to have so many prayers (United States, Australia, Chili), and I can't imagine God being silent to those prayers. There is power in numbers.

Thank you for your birthday wishes and continued prayers. September is a special month for Jon and I because we celebrate our anniversary on the 27th. God gifted me with this incredible man who supports me, empowers me to be all I can be, and loves me despite my many faults. I can't imagine walking this road without Jon.

God Bless,
Sandy
