An Uplifted Heart

Heavenly Father,

This morning as I read your scripture; I just loved what you had to say to me.  First, I was lead to Psalm 56, and what really struck me was verses 9-13.  I had underlined the verses on 5/29/07, just before my neck surgery and during my darkest days.

My enemies will retreat when I call to you for help.
    This I know: God is on my side!
10 I praise God for what he has promised;
    yes, I praise the Lord for what he has promised.
11 I trust in God, so why should I be afraid?
    What can mere mortals do to me?
12 I will fulfill my vows to you, O God,
    and will offer a sacrifice of thanks for your help.
13 For you have rescued me from death;
    you have kept my feet from slipping.
So now I can walk in your presence, O God,
    in your life-giving light.

I thought this morning about my enemy of cancer, and how lousy I have felt this week after chemo.  I think so much is riding on how I feel or what the chemo can medically do, but then I am reminded that this cancer retreats best when I call on you for help.  Yes, the tide of battle turns and the cancer flees when your powerful healing is granted.  I thank you for your promises, of which you have never broken.  Why should I be afraid that this chemo is not working, or not strong enough?  You tell me not to be afraid.  My life is an offering of thanks for all you have done for me.

Verse 13 reminds me that you have rescued me from death.  I am going on seven years!!!  I have seen miracles, and you have never let me slip too far out of your reach.  You have collected all of my tears and know my needs more than I.  I have walked in your presence on earth and you have given me your life-giving light to guide the way.

I pray that you will give me more years to sing your praises, more miracles to show the unbelievers in my life your power and mercy, and more purposeful opportunities to make a difference in the lives of others.

Thank you for lifting my heart this morning with your word.  I turned to that page on just the right day to be encouraged and strengthened.  Your timing is always impeccable!

I love you so much!
