This verse tell us that we are all running the race, but not
all of us will finish. For every Olympic Athlete on the stand with a medal,
there are hundreds that worked for that goal and never made it. Maybe they did
not train right, or ran into an obstacle they could not overcome. They might
have had an injury or illness that brought them down.
Do you have an obstacle in your life that is causing you to
give up? Has death, illness, unemployment, or a broken relationship caused you
to stop running the race toward Jesus? This life we live can only be lived once, and when you stop striving to live it with Christ, you have chosen to seperate yourself from the One who loves you.
Athletes who did not win a medal this year have to train four more years for the opportunity to be at the Olympics again. YOU don't have to wait any longer than the amount of time it takes to tell Jesus you want more of Him in your life, and less of you!
Father God,
I know you are the author of the universe, and creator of my soul. I am humbled that you would send your Son to come to earth and endure the pain of this world for me. I realize that Jesus paid the price on the cross for my sins so that I could become clean and live with you in eternity some day.
Jesus, please forgive me and cleanse me and make me new in you. I want to strive to be more like you, but I know I can't go through life without your promises of hope, peace, love, and salvation. I know that following you does not make me immune to the pain of this fallen world, but you can make all that is wrong in our life new by your love and peace. I need you to show me how to run the race so when my life is over, I can hear the words, "Well done."
Amen
If you prayed a prayer similar to this in the past, or you prayed it for the first time just now, you are a child of God, and He wants you to keep running toward Him!
Love,
Sandy
