New York

Last week we were in New York City for a family vacation. Opportunity arose, and we decided to take advantage of it and pull the girls from school for an adventure. We had a fabulous time. It was a very busy trip. We hit up all of the top tourist spots, along with thousands of others. Broadway (Phantom of the Opera), Time Square, Central Park, Statue of Liberty, etc... One of our highlights was taking a walking tour of Ground Zero. It is just a construction sight at the moment, but our tour guide took us to various memorials around the site, and gave us a vision of what it looked like before 9/11, and what the plans are for it now.

There are many places in NYC that remind you of the great freedom and liberty we have in the United States. We are a country that was built on some pretty amazing principles and beliefs, and it is sad in a way how things have kind of watered down over the years. When you look two holes in the ground where towers once stood, you can't help but feel the terror of that day and the hate that went into the plan to take them down, and thousands with it. It was also Fleet Week while we were there. So there was also the reminder of the sacrifice that is being made by our military, and the lives lost, to protect us from further attacks.

It was a great vacation, and NYC is an amazing place. We would not want to live there! We were happy to get back to our little plot of land and quiet streets.

We have lots of good things going on right now. Rachel is ready to end her middle school years. Soccer is wrapping up. It is all made sweeter by the freedom from chemo!! My hair is growing back good, and could get away with going without a wig real soon.

I am looking forward to having more time to ponder and write as our commitments start to wind down. Things get a little out of balance and crazy this time of year.

Thank you always for you support!
Love,
Sandy
