Christmas time is probably the worst time of the year for people who are lonely. When something is not right in your life, and you don't feel like rejoicing, this time of year makes it even worse. Christmas is a time to celebrate with family and friends, but that sometimes means a forced smile and an increase in sugary foods to get your through. It is good to remember that God is WITH you during the lonely times.
"God came to earth on Christmas to remind you that He is always with you, no matter where you are. That's a fact, whether you feel it or not. The Bible says, "I can never escape from your spirit! I can never get away from your presence!" But you must connect or "tune in" to his presence on a moment-by-moment basis, and that is a skill that can be learned." R. Warren
God will never leave us alone. I can attest to the fact that He never sleeps and is at work in the middle of the night. I had some great moments with God while in the hospital after my neck surgery. I was scared and alone, but would start singing a praise song and talk to Him, and my spirits would be lifted. Many of my most intimate conversations with Jesus have been when I feel alone at night. This is also a time where Satan like to get his digs. Everything feels darker and desperate when you can't sleep, or your sleep is troubled. Start talking to God, he is awake and ready to cast Satan aside. Keep your Bible close at hand and read His promises. Whatever you are going through, He is going through it with you. He cares and understands and is WITH you. You are not alone. Here is one of my treasured verses that promises God will never leave me alone.
Fear not, for I have redeemed you. I have summoned you by name, you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be WITH you. When you pass through the rivers, you will not be swept away. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned. The flames will not set you ablaze, for I am the Lord your God. Isaiah 43:2,3
It must have been a lonely job to be a shepherd tending the sheep at night. Look at what great things came about in those dark hours. It must have been lonely to be an unwed and pregnant teenage girl, but look at what miracle came through that lonely and uncertain time. I hope you can be rest assured today that God is WITH you. He will never leave you or forsake you. He has a plan for your life, and will stick with you until it is fulfilled. That is a promise from God!
Blessings,
Sandy
