Spring Break 2008

Last week we took off for vacation and traveled to Zion and Bryce National Parks in Utah. We traveled in our motorhome, and met up with our friends the Livingstons, who were in our Bible Study Group before they moved. Our first stop was Zion, and the weather was great. We got to hike and appreciate the beauty of the canyon. The kids walked in the Virgin River until their feet were frozen. The next stop was Bryce, and it was stunning! There was still snow on the ground, and the contrast between the white snow and red rock was breathtaking! There are spires and arches of colorful limestone, and we hiked down the canyon so we could take it all in. Unfortunately, it was too cold in Bryce for this Southern California Group, so we left a day early for La Vegas so we could thaw out. We stayed at the Circu, Circus KOA Campground.

It was a wonderful week in many ways. We enjoyed the time with our friends, and we appreciated all the beauty that God created. It was a time of reflection for Jon and myself because it was a year ago that we went to the Grand Canyon and Sedona and I was suffered terrible pain in my neck. The sad part of the trip was getting a call that Jon's Dad was in the hospital and his cancer is progressing quickly. Gene has internal bleeding and they ran some tests to see where it was coming from. It is coming from under the stint they put in a month ago. There are some tough decisions ahead on whether to have a feeding tube or not.

Please keep Gene in your prayers this week. Also, next Saturday marks the one year date of when Jon and I were called in and told the news that changed our life. A special thanks to the Livingstons for their compassion and friendship this past week as the news unfolded.

God Bless,
Sandy
