Health Update

Many of you know that I am experiencing an electrical charge that travels from my neck down to my toes when I bend my neck down. It is a very light sensation, but none the less it has raised some red flags with my doctors. The puzzling part of this is that the radiation I had to my S1 (tailbone area) has made a big difference in the very strong electrical charge that I was having when I walked up a hill or a long walk.

I had a MRI a couple weeks ago of my neck and spine, and today I saw the Neurosurgeon who performed surgery on my neck. My biggest fear going in was that there was a tumor that had grown and was pushing on my spine. Today Dr. Chen did not see a tumor pushing on my spinal cord, so he is not sure what is causing the problem. I had some more x-rays of my neck. He thinks maybe the cage I have in my neck has moved and is pushing on a nerve. The second step (that I really would not like to do) is to go in and get some spinal fluid and test it to make sure that nothing has penetrated that area. (Spinal Tap?) I am still waiting to hear how the x-rays looked today.

Jon's Dad is having a feeding tube inserted tomorrow. Gene is actually doing great in every other way. He is very alert and to look at him you would not know anything is wrong. He just can't get solid food down because of the cancer. We are told that he can be active just like before. He should be able to slowly drink his beloved coffee, but no more steaks.

If you only had a minute to pray for one person, let it be Jon. Today, he was with his father and making decisions about Gene's cancer. At the same time Jon is taking a call from me and getting an update on my cancer. On top of that he has two agencies to run!
If you have two minutes to pray, include Gene and me in your thoughts as well.

Thank you,
Sandy
