Kids Making A Difference

Today was the Walk for Hope, sponsored by City of Hope. I was blessed to have with me my Brownie Troop, and many of their parents. I also had my own parents, and a group of very close friends. The best part of the day was watching the enthusiasm of my Brownie Troop and the cute chants they made up along the way. They did this with great joy in their hearts, and a feeling among them that they were doing something big that would make a difference in this crazy world of theirs.

This is a great time for me to thank all of my young friends for their prayers and support. I have young girls tell me all the time that they are praying for me, and I think their prayers are felt very strongly in heaven. I have two Brownie girls, Carly and Riley, that went even further this past summer and had a lemonade stand to raise money for Mrs. B's cancer. The raised $11.80, and I proudly took the change down to City of Hope and put it in an envelope for them. My daughter's close friend, Kendall Fee, took money out of her allowance to donate toward the walk today. Another Brownie Girl, Denae, is taking money out of her allowance to help one of my favorite charities, The Heifer Project. She is going to help buy some ducks for a family in Africa.

These are just a few stories of how kids make a difference, and there are many more out there. At our Brownie meeting this week, each girl filled a shoebox with items to send overseas. Samaritan's Purse sponsors Operation Christmas Child, a way to send joy and hope to kids all over the world that are in need.

Tonight I will go to sleep thankful for the generosity and support these young people displayed today. Our children have the power to make positive changes in this world. I hope that they know that today they made a difference in my world.

With Great Love to Troop #309,

Mrs. B
