National Cancer Survivors Day

Today was National Cancer Survivors Day at The City of Hope. It's a huge event with lots of people in attendance. I was able to bust Sandy out of the Hospital for an hour via a wheelchair.
Several close friends have children performing in a group called the Berrytones, and they were scheduled to sing and dance at this event long before Sandy's surgery was scheduled. The Fees have a daughter who sings in this group, and they were able to bring Rachel and Michelle out to meet up with us. A special "thank you" to Kendall Fee who dedicated a song to Sandy. Kendra Harris also did a beautiful job. Who would have thought a month ago we would even be there, let alone as a patient? "A breath away" has taken on a whole new meaning for us....

A specific prayer request would be that Sandy goes home on Monday, and that her appetite picks up. I would also like prayer for her spirit. I think this first round was tougher than she expected, and she took a number of unexpected body blows. Keep in mind that Sandy has never had a broken bone or a stitch in her whole life. She now knows it's a 15 round fight.
