I loved watching Batman when I was younger! He was my superhero! There were those crazy thugs like Penguin and Joker. I liked it when Cat Woman would help out. Batman had a cool car, and a good friend. He lived in a castle with a butler. POW! WHAM! BANG!
Good times...
Vacation Bible School was two weeks ago, and it is (hands down) my favorite week of the year at Glenkirk Church. There is nothing like seeing 600 campers and 300 counselors singing praises to God! One of the songs that I think is great for the kids is called "Superhero." It says:
Batman, Spiderman, Superman, can never save the day, only Jesus can..."
This is something kids can really relate to. They watch in awe as their favorite Superhero swoops in and saves the damsel in distress, but these heroes rely on their own powers and you never know if some kryptonite is lying around.
Knowing God, and having Jesus as your Savior, is better than any Superhero ever imagined! God is all powerful, and knows everything. He is our creator and he wants us to not fear about anything. He wants us to let Him work through any circumstance we face. God's biggest foe is Satan, and Satan can never rule over God. Satan can throw some big obstacles in our way, but He can't have what is God's. I love this verse:
"Fear not, for I have redeemed you. I have summoned you by name, you are mine!" (that gives me chills) When you pass through the waters (any crisis), I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you (those white caps will calm down to a peaceful flow). When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned. The flames will not set you ablaze, for I am the Lord your God! Isaiah 43:2,3
That is the kind of Super Power I want in my life!
