I am grateful to have some powerhouse mentors and prayer warriors around me. One of my special friends is Cathye Tipton. Cathye shared some thoughts on Easter with me that I want to share with you. There is no doubt that this week is the most deeply felt for those who call Jesus their savior. The deep sorrow of the week makes the joy and promise of Easter morning even sweeter.
Holy Week
By: Cathye Tipton
Holy Week!! What a special time for Christians. Spring just makes it even better as we look all around us and see new life, new hope in our garden. It is truly this wonderful time between Palm Sunday and Easter that we celebrate the 'new life' God has allowed us: to become one with Him. We have assurance that as children of the Holy God we will be cared for.
Whenever my husband and I had to leave our children for a few days or even a few hours with a sitter, I could always count on 3 questions from them: Where are you going? Can I go with you? Who will stay with me?
My answers needed to bring comfort to their fear of being abandoned.
When Jesus had to leave his disciples to go to the cross, his disciples asked the same questions of Him: Where are you going? (To prepare a place for you.) Can we go with you? (No, not yet.) Who will stay with us/lead us? (The Holy Spirit will be with you.)
Dear one, when you are tired this week, frightened or lonely and cry out,"Oh Father, don't leave me alone." Be not surprised when He lovingly answers, "You will not be alone dear child of mine. the Holy Spirit is caring for you today. Be not afraid."
During this wonderful Holy Week, reflect on the one who will never leave you alone. The one who went to the Cross on your behalf. The one who will stand with you before God Himself.
Happy Easter? you bet!!
