Our minister, Jim Miller, gave a beautiful analogy of God's love in his sermon this past Sunday. It has stuck with me, especially as I watched the festivities today. Jim referred back to the Old Testament and how God dwelled in the Temple, and that only the High Priest could enter the place of the Ark, and only once a year. Others who tried to enter without being properly consecrated would die immediately.
Jim then described this scene. If you wanted to see President Obama, you would have to go through all kinds of security checks, not to mention have something important to discuss. You would have to get past machine guns, secret service agents, alarms, etc... The truth is, you and I do not have the right to enter into our President's presence freely. But, there are two little girls that can run by the secret service, they do not have to show credentials, and they don't even need a good reason to see the President. Those two girls are the President's daughters. To them, he is Daddy. They have the right to call him Father and jump in his lap without being stopped.
We have that right with God. Because of Jesus, we can run directly to God and rest in his love. We can call Him Father. When you think of the access those two girls have to the man they call Father, it is humbling indeed that we can call the creator of the universe our Father. He does not want us to hold back. Run into his arms today! You are a child of God!
God Bless,
Sandy
