Dr. James Dobson calls it a "suddenly". Suddenly you have a car accident. Suddenly a parent falls and breaks a hip. Suddenly you lose your job. Suddenly you are diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Your life has been changed forever. One of my favorite role models, and someone I consider very influential in my own development, had a "suddenly" in April at about the same time as Sandy and I were having ours. Zig Ziglar, one of America's most influential motivators, public speakers, Christians, and authors, fell down a flight of stairs and suffered a severe brain injury. He was 80 years old at the time of the accident and has just turned 81. I would ask all of you to pray for him and his family. Since I know his son Tom and his staff check in on Sandy through this Blog, let me just say that even though he's your father Tom, he's been like a second dad to me in how he has shaped and guided my attitude, thinking, and character. He is in our prayers, and we know he will continue to make a difference in people's lives - many for all of eternity!
True to Zig's mission in life of being a positive difference maker, he continues to do all that he can to help people in spite of some new limitations. He still travels the country doing seminars and presentations. Where before he would be very active on stage, practically running from one side to the other, he now travels with his daughter, and speaks with her in a sitting interview format. With the help of his family, he has even started working on his next book, "Embracing The Struggle"! It will chronicle this new chapter in his life, and be a guide to helps others when they experience their own "suddenly". Well done Zig.
Merry Christmas to all of you out there, and thank you for the prayers, love, and support you have given to us this year! We couldn't have handled this "suddenly" without you!
