I have personally had the honor of some sports teams wearing pink ribbons and shirts for me this month. Michelle is involved in a club soccer team called the Lazers, and they recently traded their black hair ribbons for pink.
Michelle also plays on a winter softball team for our local LaVerne Girls Softball. I was over the moon delighted when I showed up for a game and all of the girls and coaching staff were wearing shirts that say, "Fight Like Sandy"! Wow! Honored and humbled for sure!! They are wearing their shirts for every game in October. They even made me a shirt that says, "Team Voltage loves Sandy".
Panera even gets into the action and has ribbon bagels in October. I usually have a table at Panera and invite my friends to breakfast. This year my friends Lori Martin and Sheri Jackson hosted a lovely breakfast celebration for me. I brought the bagels, and they provided great friends and food to celebrate surviving radiation and screws in the head!
Through the ups and downs of stage 4 cancer, I am sure blessed to have such amazing support. Last week there were about 60 women who showed up for the healing prayer at Glenkirk. It was such a powerful time of prayer, scripture reading, and love all around me. I know that God is listening to our petition for healing. Our requests do not fall on deaf ears. Meanwhile, the new chemo is really helping with the pain in my spine. I have experienced some "normal" days lately where I can function on a high level. My energy and come back, and I have had more of an appetite.
I am looking forward to some good days ahead. Today we celebrate Rachel's 18th birthday. I can hardly believe that our sweet little baby is an adult! Time goes by too quickly.
Thank you all for praying,
Sandy
