My family just returned from a wonderful two week RV trip through Oregon and into Washington and Canada. We started with a great adventure at Grant's Pass by taking a speedboat tour of the Rogue River. The 360 degree turns at 40 mph were thrilling!!! We headed to the Mount St. Helen area and marveled at the destruction that nature can do, but the new life that comes out of it. We hiked around a pristine lake that was not there prior to the eruption. We continued on to Eugene, through Portland and into Washington's Olympic National Park. We had a rainy and muddy hike to a gorgeous waterfall. A little grouchiness came out of the teenage members of the family, but we laugh about it now. We took a ferry over to the lovely town of Victoria, Canada and toured the stunning Butshard Gardens. Everywhere you go the floral and fauna is breathtaking in these places!
Next was the Oregon Coast. We stayed two nights parked in front of my Aunt and Uncle's home in Gearhart. We hooked up with cousins and had a fantastic time shopping and sightseeing Seaside and Cannon Beach. We continued down the coast stopping to see whales in Newport and the Sea Lion Caves. We camped in Florence so that Jon and the girls could experience the thrill of riding a Sandrail (like an 8 man dune buggy) all over the sand dunes in the national park. I sat that one out for those of you who remember the pink jeep tour I did in 2007 that collapsed my neck. My neck and spine were happy to stay in the RV and watch a movie.
There is nothing like traveling our beautiful country and national parks with the girls. The family dynamics change, and we all become lighter and comical (not to others I would guess). We came back with some great memories and reconnected with each other. We hope that our two teenagers can keep the love going for a little longer. We have pictures to prove that they do in fact hug each other without us threatening. LOL!
It was a spiritual rest for me to just wake up in the morning and thank God for the new day, and being with my family. The depression that I was feeling prior to the trip was lifted, which was good since you are surrounded by dogs when staying at RV parks.
I thank God for the gift of time with my family, and that we could enjoy His incredible creation of this land.
Blessings,
Sandy
