A Diamond

Do you ever feel like an ugly rock, and you wish to be a beautiful stone? The process of becoming a beautiful stone, a diamond, is not a pretty one. Diamonds are made using high- pressure and high-temperature. The same came be said for us. God is not out there to make every moment of our life a high-pressure situation. He actually wants us to have His peace. But there are those times when He allows the pressure to rise in order to flush out impurities and refine us.

We are all a work in progress. Life throws us challenges, and sometimes we don't handle them well. If we see our trials as an opportunity to learn and change, then we are open to this process of becoming a beautiful and shiny diamond. It is through our trials that God can really mold us and change us into a person more like Him.

There are times when I wonder why I do the things I do. Why I make the same mistakes over and over. When I take time to look inside my heart and pray about these stumbling blocks of mine, God is always faithful to reveal to me His love and partnership in polishing me up. I am always humbled and grateful that through the cross, I can leave my shame and be cleansed by the Jesus. I don't have to hang on to my past, but can confess and move forward. I can always have hope that someday I will be that bright and shiny diamond for Him.

This life is not godliness, but the process of becoming godly, not health but getting well, not being but becoming. We are not now what we shall be, but we are on the way. The process is not yet finished, but it is actively going on. This is not the goal, but it is the right road. At present everything does not gleam and sparkle, but everything is being cleansed. - Martin Luther
