Are you tired? I'm tired.
Most Mothers I have talked to lately are tired.
The end of the school year is crazy. There are permission slips, parties, pigs (2nd grade Moms will get that one). There is a spelling bee, talent show, and a multiplication ice cream sundae party. I don't want to miss a thing! This is my last time I will even do 2nd grade, and I don't want it to end. So I am plowing through trying to enjoy each moment like all the other Moms. We are all a bit tired, but time to rest will come the day after June 10th. Right! Wrong!
There is always something that keeps us from being quiet and listening to God's voice. It is a battle to find that time and make it meaningful.
Jesus was always surrounded by people. His disciples, followers, and those who came to seek healing and hope were always around. Jesus still made being alone with His Father a priority. He knew that He needed to be filled up so that He could give.
Tomorrow (Thursday, May 7) is The National Day of Prayer. It is a day to fast and pray and be as quiet as we can with God. We should pray for our leaders, people suffering in other parts of the world, our state, our cities, our schools, and those we love. It is also a good time to pray for yourself and God's direction in your life.
I have fasted before, and when your focus is on God it is a very meaningful experience. I fasted from sunrise to sundown and drank water and tea all day. It really helped me to think on what is important. Tomorrow I am going to fast, but it will be a little revised due to radiation (so don't worry). I am looking forward to that time of quiet with God. I just love talking to Him and reading His Word. Reading God's Word is a great way to be in touch with His promises.
If you don't know where to look for God's promises (the Bible is full of them) I have some favorites for you to look up and meditate on tomorrow:
Psalm 23
Psalm 139
Psalm 146
Psalm 147
Psalm 62
Psalm 77
I pray that The National Day of Prayer will be a meaningful day for you.
God Bless,
Sandy
