The Day After

This past Sunday, April 19th, was the two year anniversary of when Jon and I were called into Dr. Woodward's office to hear the news that would change the course of our life forever. I look back now and realize and that God was also in that room.

Maybe an even more significant anniversary to look back on is the day after we were told the bad news. It was that day that God spoke to me through a children's Sunday school lesson titled "God is at His Best, When Life is at it's Worst." It still amazes me how God communicated with me that day and how the two verses He sent me have carried me through the darkest valleys of my life. When the maker of the universe says, "I will not leave you (Hebrews 13:5), and I will use this for my purpose (Romans 8:28)," you can be sure that those are promises that will be kept.

Often times it is hard to see what God is doing because we are disillusioned, scared, or disappointed in our circumstances. The Bible has all kinds of stories of people who were in those same situations and faced a dead-end in their life. Daniel was thrown in a lion's den, his three friends were thrown in a fiery furnace. With God there are no dead-ends. He is the one that can deliver us and give us hope for our future. Many times I think that I know what God's plan is. I get all excited and start to visualize something really exciting (like healing). I read a statement the other day that says, "If I could figure a way for God to work out a situation, then that is definitely not the way God will eventually work." I get excited because if I can visualize something really powerful for God to do, then God certainly can top my thoughts. I often tell God, "Don't do it my way, do it your way. You are much better at planning a celebration than me!"

I know there are many people out there who are scared and in doubt about what lies ahead. I know what fear feels like, and it will consume you and make you immobile if you let it. Whatever your valley is, don't limit God. Jesus is like the Shepard who will look for the one lost lamb and bring it home and throw a party. Through Him, what was lost is found. Satan can never take away what belongs to God. That is amazing love by the creator Himself!

I hope you find peace in knowing that God can use any situation for His good.

Peacefully Yours,
Sandy
