The Little Drummer Boy

Every year there is a stand out Christmas song for me. This year it is the old favorite, "The Little Drummer Boy." Most of you have probably seen the old cartoon by the same name. It is a bit hokey compared to the other cartoons that we have today, but it always gets me at the end. The little boy hears that a baby has been born that is special. The boy goes with his little lamb to see the baby, and the lamb is run over by a chariot. This is the part that sends me and the girls over the edge crying. The little lamb, and the drum, is all the little orphan boy has. The boy lays the lamb down before baby Jesus and then begins to play his drum. And then the song starts. The girls and I are wailing now. But wait, the lamb is moving! The little lamb is miraculously healed! What a great ending! The boy gives Jesus everything, and Jesus gives it all back restored!!!

Come they told me, pa rum pum pum pum (Jesus is saying come at any time, day or night)
A new born King to see, pa rum pum pum pum (He is the Messiah, the chosen one)
Our finest gifts we bring, pa rum pum pum pum (What could we possibly give God)
To lay before the King, pa rum pum pum pum (He wants us to lay it all down at his feet)
So to honor Him, pa rum pum pum pum, (Honor him, talk with him, believe His promises)
When we come. (He stands at the door and knocks, waiting for us)
Little Baby, pa rum pum pum pum (God humbled himself and became one of us)
I am a poor boy too, pa rum pum pum pum (I have nothing, I am poor in spirit without God)
I have no gift to bring, pa rum pum pum pum (I have no gift, you will have to do the work God)
That's fit to give the King, pa rum pum pum (You can take this broken vessel and make it new)
Shall I play for you, pa rum pum pum pum, (Yes, I want to serve you no matter what the cost)
On my drum? (I will praise you name in every circumstance)

Through the tears we lay down what is broken before Jesus, and He restores us and makes a new again. He can restore anything. A marriage, cancer, finances... There is no limit to what He can do.

Christmas Blessings,
Sandy
