The righteous man walks in his integrity; his children are blessed after him. Proverbs 20:7
I am proud to be the wife of Jon Boulware. He is a hardworking man who cares for his family in every way possible. He is one of the most caring and thoughtful people I know. He is always sending people encouraging cards and gifts, and when they thank ME I have to play along like I know what they are talking about. Jon is my best friend, and I can't even begin to imagine what it would be like if we were not on this road together.
Most importantly, Jon is a great father. He is an example to his kids of what integrity means. He makes mistakes, but knows how to apologize. He comforts, instructs, and provides for them in a very special way. Jon prays with his kids every night, and gets up on Sunday mornings to go to church even when he is tired and would like to sleep in.
Our children are fortunate to have a father that is a model of their Father in heaven. Sadly, many children grow up not having a father that is a positive reflection of what God must be like. I was fortunate to have a role model in my own father. We are all heirs to a mighty God, who loves us with such intensity that he wants to get our attention every chance He gets so that we will talk with Him. Imagine if our children did not want to speak to their father. How tragic it would be to have a father like Jon, and not want to seek his advice or communicate with him. Our children would be missing out on all his wisdom, and the joy of being with their dad. It is the same way with us and God. God is always available to give us blessings and comfort, yet we often take Him for granted and we don't take advantage of all the benefits of being His child.
If you have not talked to your heavenly father in a long time, there is no better time than now to get your relationship back on track. He is waiting to bless you and welcome you with open arms! God, our Father is "merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy." Psalm 103:8
I liked the thought for today in my Daily Bread. It read:
A life lived for Christ is the best inheritance we can leave our children.
Happy Father's Day!
