Worship Songs

"Let the word dwell in you richly...in Psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord." Colossians 3:16

I am sorry to say, I have never been good with memorizing scripture. I have a few favorites that are locked into my brain. I admire my friends that can recall scripture so beautifully, and have scripture on their lips so easily. I do, however, have lots of scripture on my lips as well through music. It is always fun to run into a verse when reading the Bible, and recognize it from a song. I just love to worship God through praise music. I listen to it all the time in my car, and I am hoping to make up a CD soon of all my favorites that have gotten me through the valleys these past eight months. I love the old favorites, but I also enjoy contemporary music. My favorite, and the favorite of my girls, is Casting Crowns. I love the words to the following song:

Who Am I
Psalm 139/Psalm 52/Ephesians 2
Lyrics: Mark hall

Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name
Would care to feel my hurt
Who am I, that the bright and morning star
Would choose to light the way
For my ever wandering heart

Not because of who I am
But because of what You've done
Not because of what I've done
But because of who You are

I am a flower quickly fading
Here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean
A vapor in the wind
Still You hear me when I'm calling
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling
And You've told me who I am
I am yours, I am yours

This song has been on my mind all week. I am constantly amazed at how God is working, and it really is not me who deserves to take any credit. I would be an emotional wreck if I did not have confidence and hope through God. Satan has enjoyed taking his little jabs this week at me. When I have a little ache or pain, I can feel panic trying to settle in. I keep remembering, and praising, through this song that I am God's child and He knows my name. I am His. I don't need to fear.
